George Vondriska teaches you how to use a tape measure and a woodworking clamp to calculate the length of angled chair legs or desk legs. By manually laying the piece out and utilizing the ruler as a plumb bob, you can guarantee that you’ll get the angle and length perfectly correct for all four legs.

George I noticed your tape was wobbling a bit. Would a 36 inch steel rule work better for getting the accuracy you want?

Yep, a rigid steel rule would be a great idea.

Good idea cause I’ve always had problems figuring out the length and kind of played hit and miss several times. Who would of thought such a simple fix worked so well and so consistant. Thank for the tip.
